A Father’s Prayer, A Son’s Redemption: New Life in South Asia

Names, locations, and images have been changed to protect the identity of individuals in sensitive regions.

In a modest home tucked within the foothills of South Asia, one father’s quiet faith and persistent prayers have led to a powerful transformation. What began as a small house gathering with just a few believers has grown into a testimony of how the gospel restores families—one heart at a time.

An Invitation to Listen

Jiwan* was one of the first in his neighborhood to begin attending a small Bible discussion group hosted through a local house fellowship. As he listened each week to the stories of Jesus and engaged in conversation with other believers, his faith deepened. He began inviting his wife and daughter to come along—and together they opened their hearts to Christ.

Still, one member of the family remained distant: Jiwan’s son, Shushant.

He wasn’t interested in anything we were learning. He didn’t want to come. But I prayed for him every day.
— Jiwan

The Turning Point

Eventually, Jiwan invited Shushant to just visit one session. The format was simple: reading the Bible, asking questions, listening, and sharing. Something about the open and welcoming atmosphere drew Shushant in.

God used that time to speak to his heart. He began to come on his own.
— Jiwan

As weeks passed, Shushant started joining the family not just for home gatherings, but for Sunday worship at Hope Light Church*. The young man who once rejected the gospel had become curious, then convinced—and finally, committed.

Now he’s a follower of Jesus. He is preparing for baptism and growing in faith.
— Jiwan

From One to Many

Today, Jiwan’s entire family walks with Christ. What began as a gathering of four in a local marketplace area has become a hub of transformation—not just for one home, but for many.

Quiet Support, Eternal Impact

Behind the scenes, ministries like this are being strengthened through training and encouragement. Compel International is honored to walk alongside national leaders—equipping them to launch and multiply simple Bible discovery groups. These grassroots fellowships, often started in homes and public spaces, are helping families like Jiwan’s encounter the living Word of God.
