What Changed My Family: A Cambodian Mother’s Testimony
Names, locations, and images have been changed to protect the identity of individuals in sensitive regions.
In a quiet farming region near Cambodia’s border with Vietnam, the Gospel is changing lives one household at a time. For Sophea, a mother of three, meeting Jesus meant freedom from fear—and the beginning of peace in her home.
A Life Marked by Fear and Turmoil
Before knowing Christ, Sophea lived in spiritual confusion. Caught between ancestor worship, witchcraft, fortune-tellers, and Buddhism, she carried fear, stress, and resentment that spilled into her family life.
“My family was living in unhappiness, with much stress and many times of domestic violence.”
A Local Leader and a Different Kind of Message
When Dara, a local ministry leader, came to her village through one of Compel International’s trusted partners, Sophea began noticing something different. Small groups were meeting weekly to discuss the Bible, receive training in agriculture and health, and pray together.
Curious, she began to listen. Over time, she joined the gatherings and encountered a God she had never known. “I decided to believe in Jesus Christ,” she said. “Now I’ve found the true God—my Savior.”
Healing at Home and a New Future
Her life began to change. Patience replaced anger. She stopped cheating others and found a renewed love for her family. The conflict at home gave way to peace. Domestic violence ceased, and joy slowly returned.
With practical skills from the community training, she began growing vegetables and cultivating rice. Now she sells her produce in the market and supports her children’s education.
“I am living with hope and happiness!”
Today, Sophea and her family worship God together each week.
Why Cambodia? Why Compel?
Cambodia is one of Southeast Asia’s most spiritually unreached nations. Among the Khmer people, less than 2% are Christian. Compel International partners with local leaders to bring both spiritual and practical transformation through CHE, DBS, and small group discipleship.
In rural regions where folk religion and fear dominate daily life, the Gospel is bringing healing—one household at a time.
How Compel International Supports This Work
Compel International equips leaders like Dara with biblical tools and practical training to reach unreached communities. Through our long-term partnership with a Cambodian ministry, we provide coaching, strategy, and disciple-making support to help the local church flourish.
Prayer Focus
Pray for Sophea and her family as they grow in their walk with Christ.
Pray for more disciple-makers like Dara to be raised up across Cambodia.
Ask God to multiply new churches through small groups and outreach efforts.
