The Holy Spirit Is Transforming Lives in Sri Lanka

Across several communities in Sri Lanka, God is drawing people to Himself through Discovery Bible Study groups, children’s ministries, and the faithful witness of local believers. Lives once marked by addiction, brokenness, and hopelessness are now becoming testimonies of freedom, healing, spiritual renewal, and multiplying impact.
What began as small Bible discussion groups and community outreach efforts is now bearing visible fruit in families, churches, and entire neighborhoods.
In one community, local believers began gathering with young people at a community center to read Scripture, ask questions, and pray together. Most of the participants did not come from Christian backgrounds, but over time many began encountering Christ personally through Discovery Bible Study groups.
Recently, six young people publicly professed their faith in Jesus through baptism. During one of the gatherings, two of the new believers experienced the power of the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues as the group prayed together.

The ministry has also expanded into community-based education and outreach for children.
A community academy that first began through CHE ministry support is now fully led and operated by people from the local community itself. Many of the teachers and leaders serving in the academy came to faith through the ministry and are now discipling the next generation.
Around 20 children regularly participate in the academy, and the children are now involved in Discovery Bible Study groups connected to the program. Local believers continue praying that these children will grow to know Christ personally as they are surrounded by Scripture, encouragement, and loving relationships.
In another region, a children’s club that began just two years ago has now grown to serve more than 70 students, many from Buddhist backgrounds. Through the relationships formed with children and parents, local churches have been able to connect with entire families in meaningful ways.
Today, more than 15 families connected through the children’s ministry are now involved in the local church, and many have placed their faith in Jesus Christ.
Leaders say the transformation is becoming increasingly visible within the broader community.
God’s work is also bringing freedom from addiction and restoration to families.
One young man who struggled with drug addiction for nearly a decade encountered Christ during a small church gathering connected to a Discovery Bible Study group. For years, addiction had controlled his life and damaged his future, but local believers continued walking alongside him in prayer and discipleship.
Today, he has completely left drugs behind and is actively serving in the local church.
His transformation has become a powerful testimony to others who knew his past struggles.
In another family, a woman first came to a Discovery Bible Study group carrying the heavy burden of conflict at home. Her husband struggled with severe alcohol addiction and often became abusive toward both her and their children. The family lived in deep poverty and isolation, with little hope for change.
As the woman and her children continued attending the group, she gave her life to Christ and faithfully prayed for her husband.
In time, those around them began witnessing an extraordinary transformation. Her husband stopped drinking completely and began using his income to care for his family rather than feeding his addiction. Peace slowly replaced fear inside their home.
The impact did not stop with one family.
Neighbors who observed the change in their lives began attending the Discovery Bible Study group themselves, wanting to understand what had happened.
Another woman who joined a nearby group while facing family struggles also experienced renewed peace in her home. As relationships healed, others in the community started asking questions about the Bible studies she attended and began visiting the local fellowship as well.
Beyond spiritual growth, many women involved in the Discovery Bible Study groups have found a new sense of dignity, confidence, and community through the local churches. Women who once felt isolated and alone are now actively participating in ministry, supporting one another, and growing together in faith.

These testimonies reflect the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit through faithful local believers who continue walking alongside individuals and families in discipleship, prayer, and community. Across Sri Lanka, God is bringing freedom from addiction, healing broken relationships, strengthening families, and drawing new people into fellowship with Christ.
