On the Frontlines: The Church Proclaiming the Love of Christ in a Time of War

In a region marked by conflict and uncertainty, local believers along the Iraq–Iran border are faithfully living out the Gospel—demonstrating that even in the midst of war, God is advancing His Kingdom through His people. As Compel International walks alongside these leaders, the Church continues to grow in courage, compassion, and spiritual fruit.

“Enlarge the place of your tent,

stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back;

lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.

For you will spread out to the right and to the left;

your descendants will dispossess nations

and settle in their desolate cities.”

Isaiah 54:2–3 (NIV)

A Church That Does Not Retreat

Along the Iraq–Iran border, where tensions remain high and communities are deeply affected by ongoing conflict, the Church is not retreating—it is advancing.

Local believers are demonstrating the love of Christ in both word and action, even amid risk and instability. Their presence is a testimony to a deeper reality: God is at work, strengthening His people to stand firm and serve others.

A local pastor, Baran, who serves in the region, describes a growing sense of spiritual resolve among believers. While the challenges are real, so is the encouragement they are experiencing through prayer and unity.

Anchored in Prayer, United in Purpose

In the midst of uncertainty, the Church is anchored in prayer.

Believers are continually asking for protection over their families, their communities, and their movements. They are interceding for peace, longing to see restoration across the region.

Yet their prayers go beyond safety.

Lord, use us for the expansion of Your Kingdom—even now.
— Local pastor

There is a shared burden to see God’s Kingdom revealed—especially in neighboring Iran—and a longing to witness His will being done on earth as it is in heaven.

A Window of Opportunity

Though this season is marked by hardship, local leaders also discern that it is a time of unusual spiritual openness.

Pastor Baran and other believers sense that a significant window is opening—one that calls for readiness, wisdom, and faithful obedience. Even in crisis, hearts are more open, and the Church is stepping forward to meet both physical and spiritual needs.

Walking Hand in Hand in Ministry

Through partnership with Compel International, local believers have been able to respond in practical ways—providing essential aid and extending Christ’s love to families affected by the conflict.

This support is not a one-time effort, but part of a long-term relationship focused on equipping and strengthening the Church to serve its own communities. Together, they are reaching both believers and those who have not yet heard the Gospel, offering a tangible expression of Christ’s compassion.

Pastor Baran expresses deep gratitude for this partnership, while also emphasizing the urgency of the moment. The opportunities are significant, and the need for continued support and prayer is great.

A Call to the Global Church

As ministry continues under challenging conditions, the call to prayer remains urgent.

Believers on the frontlines are asking for:

  • Protection over every journey and act of service

  • Wisdom and discernment in a rapidly changing environment

  • Spiritual readiness for the opportunities God is opening

More than ever, the Church is being called to stand together—across borders and cultures—participating in God’s work even in the hardest places.

The Church on the frontlines is carrying the love of Christ into places marked by fear and instability. And through faithful obedience, His Kingdom continues to advance.
