Faithfulness in the Balkans: How Everyday Believers Are Sharing the Gospel

Across Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, local churches are steadily living out an evangelistic way of life—one relationship at a time. As Compel International walks alongside these leaders, the focus remains clear: equipping those already burdened to reach their communities so that lasting, multiplying gospel impact can take root.
A Quiet Work with Lasting Impact
For more than a decade, Compel International staff has partnered with churches across the Balkans—continuing a long-term commitment to see disciples made and communities transformed.
This work begins by identifying and walking alongside pastors and leaders who already carry a deep burden to reach those around them—often in communities where many come from Muslim backgrounds and where access to the Gospel has been limited. Rather than building dependency, the goal is to strengthen these leaders for sustainable ministry in their own context.
That means investing in people, not programs—equipping leaders and their teams through training, ongoing coaching, and relationships with like-minded pastors who share the same vision for reaching the lost.
Albania: From House Visits to New Life
In a rural area of Albania, local volunteers spent several days visiting Roma families in their homes—listening, building trust, and praying with each household.
These visits led to a larger gathering where a local pastor shared about the freedom found through God’s grace in Jesus Christ. Many men attended, and the message resonated deeply.
“At the end, a collective prayer was held… where 12 of the men and young people prayed the prayer of salvation and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior.”
The work did not end there. Local believers are now continuing to meet with these men—helping them begin reading Scripture and grow in their faith within a supportive community.
Kosovo: A Seed Taking Root
In Kosovo, outreach around Easter opened the door for new relationships. Several individuals attended church for the first time after being personally invited.
One woman, first connected through a community outreach earlier in the year, has now become a regular participant. Over time, through consistent care and relationship, she chose to place her faith in Christ.
Her story reflects the kind of long-term investment that defines this work—where transformation grows trust and ongoing presence.
North Macedonia: Gathering and Response
In two communities in North Macedonia, local church teams organized outreach gatherings ahead of Easter, bringing together around 130 people.
In these relational settings, 24 individuals chose to follow Christ.
These moments are significant, but they are not isolated. They are the fruit of ongoing engagement by local leaders who are faithfully serving, teaching, and walking alongside their neighbors.
Equipping Without Creating Dependency
A key part of Compel International’s role is to come alongside leaders without replacing their responsibility or initiative.
This includes:
Training pastors and teams to share the Gospel and disciple others in everyday life
Connecting leaders with others who are pursuing the same mission
Providing limited, practical support—often covering simple needs like transportation so ministry can continue
This support is intentionally modest. The aim is not to fund ministry, but to remove small barriers—encouraging leaders to depend fully on God as they serve their communities.
A Different Kind of Growth
What ties these stories together is not scale, but consistency.
This is not built on large events or external efforts, but on everyday believers who are:
Building genuine relationships
Serving their neighbors
Sharing the Gospel in natural, personal ways
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
As this pattern continues, the impact becomes sustainable. New believers are discipled, communities are strengthened, and the Church grows in depth as well as number.
Looking Ahead
Across the Balkans, this steady rhythm of faithfulness continues. Each visit, conversation, and gathering becomes part of a larger story—one where God is building His Church through local leaders equipped to reach their own people.
Compel International remains committed to this long-term partnership—walking alongside those who are already called, and equipping them to see lives and communities transformed for the glory of God.
