From Curiosity to Commitment: How God is Moving Through Small Groups in Nepal
Names, locations, and images have been changed to protect the identity of individuals in sensitive regions.
In a quiet neighborhood in Nepal, a small gathering of believers is creating a ripple effect of transformation—one relationship at a time. Through Scripture-centered small groups and the faithful witness of everyday believers, lives are being changed—and Compel International is helping make that possible by equipping local leaders to multiply Christ-centered communities.
Small Groups, Big Impact
In a growing fellowship tucked away in the hills of Nepal, transformation began with six believers who simply gathered to read God’s Word, ask honest questions, and walk in obedience together.
This was more than a Bible study. It was a doorway to spiritual discovery for neighbors who had never heard the gospel. These weekly gatherings—small, interactive, and welcoming—became a safe space to explore truth and follow Jesus in community.
One faithful woman named Mira, age 47, experienced the impact firsthand.
“She listened to their struggles and showed them genuine care and compassion.”
A Heart Moved by Love
Mira had been learning how to lead with both humility and courage through the local training efforts supported by Compel International. Inspired by the studies and the Spirit’s prompting, she invited her relatives—Anil and Pema—to join the group.
There, the couple found more than conversation—they found love without pressure, a listening ear, and a spiritual family. Though they came with doubts, they stayed because of the warmth and authenticity they experienced.
Mira’s impact didn’t stop at the meeting. She welcomed Anil and Pema into her home. She cooked for them. She prayed silently but persistently for their hearts. Her consistent love, rooted in Christ, softened the soil for gospel seeds to take root.
A Step of FaitH
Sensing their growing openness, Mira invited a local mentor—also trained through a Compel-partnered program—to visit. This mentor answered questions, shared stories from Scripture, and encouraged Anil and Pema with clarity and compassion.
That visit became a turning point.
“The couple made a heartfelt decision to follow Jesus Christ.”
In the weeks that followed, Anil and Pema began their new walk of faith—encouraged by the group, guided by God’s Word, and supported by a fellowship that sees every believer as a disciple-maker.
A Community on Mission
What began as a simple act of obedience has now multiplied into lasting change. Mira’s faithfulness and the small group’s openness became the gateway for new discipleship in the community. Today, Anil and Pema are walking alongside others who are also curious—just as they once were.
Behind the scenes, Compel International continues to walk with our Nepali partners—training, mentoring, and equipping local leaders like Mira and her mentor to make disciples who make disciples.
This is the power of the gospel: it multiplies through everyday people. In quiet homes and crowded villages, transformation is taking place—one relationship at a time.
