From Darkness to Light in Rural Cambodia
Names, locations, and images have been changed to protect the identity of individuals in sensitive regions.
What began as a visit from one believer to her relatives in a distant village has grown into the birth of a new house church—marking the arrival of the gospel in a spiritually dark community.
A New Region, A New Invitation
Pastor Daly and her team had been faithfully serving in their province when God opened a door 250 kilometers away. A relative of one of the local Christian leaders extended an invitation for a visit, sensing that their village was in need of more than physical help—it needed hope.
That hope arrived in the form of the gospel.
As the team began meeting with villagers and sharing the good news of Jesus, one family responded immediately. For years, they had lived under spiritual oppression. Evil spirits demanded constant offerings, tormenting the family with sickness, fear, and conflict. Their home was filled with anxiety and poverty. Peace seemed unreachable.
“We were always sick, always fighting. There was no joy in our house. We were afraid all the time.”
Freedom Through Christ
When this family heard the gospel, something shifted. With tears and great joy, they made the decision to turn away from idol worship and fully surrender to Jesus Christ. For the first time, they experienced peace—not only in their home, but in their hearts.
Since that day, they’ve stopped making sacrifices to evil spirits. Sickness has lessened. Quarreling has faded. A new unity is forming within the family, and their neighbors have noticed.
The father now hosts regular Bible studies and training in their home. Others in the community are coming to learn, and the early signs of a church are forming.
“This is no longer a house of fear. Now it is a house of joy and peace.”
A New Church is Born
This once-unreached area is now home to a small but growing group of Christ followers. What started with one faithful visit has become a new church plant. The gospel has broken the stronghold of fear and brought the power of Christ into the lives of ordinary people.
We praise God for His work in this new province—and for how He’s using everyday believers to bring light into dark places.
