She Was Searching for God. Now She Wants to Help Others Find Him.

Names, locations, and images have been changed to protect the identity of individuals in sensitive regions.

In Tunisia, Amina’s journey to faith in Jesus is becoming an invitation for other women to discover God’s Word.

Amina believed God existed. What she did not know was how to truly know Him.

Raised in a conservative Muslim family in Tunisia, she had sincerely practiced her religion and wanted to draw closer to God. But questions began to unsettle the beliefs she had always known. Eventually, she no longer identified with the religion of her childhood, even though her belief in God remained.

She had never met a Christian. Following Jesus was something she had never imagined for herself.

Then, while browsing her phone, she came across a social media page with an invitation:

“If you want to truly know God…”

The page introduced her to Jesus Christ.

Questions That Led Her Back

Amina’s first response was anger. She struggled to understand why other Tunisians would leave Islam to follow Jesus. Yet she kept reading.

For a time, she stepped away from the page. But her questions remained. She still wanted to know who God was and whether a relationship with Him was possible.

Eventually, she returned and contacted the people behind it—local ministry partners connected with Compel International.

That contact became an opportunity to meet with believers and begin exploring Scripture through Discovery Bible Study.

As she read and discussed God’s Word with them, she began discovering who Jesus is. Over time, she came to believe that He was the Lord and Savior she had been searching for.

She put her faith in Christ. Six months later, she was baptized.

Learning to Follow Jesus

Her decision brought opposition within her family. Following Christ introduced difficult questions and strained relationships, and she needed courage to continue.

Local believers walked alongside her as she grew in faith.

Today, Amina continues sharing what she has discovered with her family. They have not yet chosen to follow Jesus, but they are willing to listen. We pray that God will continue working in their hearts and give her wisdom, patience, and perseverance.

Her own questions had led her to Scripture. Now she was beginning to consider who else might be searching.

Remembering Other Women

During a recent discipleship training, Amina participated in a lesson about God’s vision for the community. Participants were encouraged to consider the people around them and pray about whom they could engage.

As she prayed, she remembered women she had known who shared something of her own experience. They believed God existed but did not identify with an established religious tradition.

She decided to reconnect with them and invite them to explore God’s Word through Discovery Bible Study.

Those conversations are still ahead. Her desire is to help other women discover Jesus through the same Scriptures that helped her come to know Him.

Faith That Reaches Through Relationships

This is part of what Compel seeks to encourage through our local partnerships: believers growing in Christ and becoming equipped to help others follow Him.

Our partners in Tunisia are discipling people within their own communities, helping them engage Scripture, respond in faith, and consider how to share what they are learning.

For Amina, that next step begins with people she already knows.

She understands something of their questions because she has carried those questions herself. Now she has an opportunity to listen, share her testimony, and invite them to discover God’s Word together.

Pray With Us

  • Thank God for bringing Amina to faith in Jesus.

  • Pray for wisdom and protection as she follows Christ amid family opposition.

  • Pray that her family will come to know Him.

  • Pray for the women she hopes to reconnect with, that they will be open to exploring Scripture.

  • Pray for our Tunisian partners as they disciple believers and equip them to help others follow Jesus.
